South African comedian Trevor Noah has garnered three Emmy nominations for his work on a Netflix special and his hosting of the 66th Grammy Awards.
Noah’s nominations include Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for the 66th Grammy Awards, where he served as both producer and host, and Outstanding Directing For A Variety Special for his comedy special “Trevor Noah: Where Was I,” directed by David Paul Meyer. Additionally, the comedy special itself is up for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded).
Released in December 2023, “Where Was I” also earned a Golden Globe nomination earlier this year for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television, though the award ultimately went to Ricky Gervais for “Armageddon.”
This isn’t Noah’s first taste of Emmy success. He and The Daily Show team already secured an Emmy at the 75th ceremony held in January 2024. In his acceptance speech, Noah expressed gratitude to his team and Jon Stewart, whom he credited as a “crazy genius” for inviting him on this journey.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Noah is notably “the first Black person to win an Emmy for outstanding talk series.”
