Ronaldo Criticizes Ten Hag’s Approach, Urges Manchester United to Aim Higher

Cristiano Ronaldo has criticized Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, labeling his attitude as too negative and calling for the team to aim for the Premier League title despite the need for significant rebuilding. Ronaldo, who now plays for Al Nassr, had a public fallout with Ten Hag before leaving Old Trafford in late 2022.

In an episode of the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, Ronaldo stated that United should not be content with falling short of major trophies. While Ten Hag recently expressed confidence in winning more silverware after claiming the League Cup and FA Cup, he also admitted the team is far from ready to win the Premier League.

Ronaldo argued that the club should always strive for top honors. “Maybe we don’t have the potential, but you have to try,” he said, emphasizing that Manchester United needs to rebuild its entire structure to stay competitive.

United finished eighth in the Premier League last season and have lost two of their opening three matches this year. British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe has since purchased a minority stake in the club, overseeing structural changes.

Ronaldo acknowledged his love for the club despite past tensions, noting, “I’m not happy with how it ended, but I still love the club.”
